Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind moves Supreme Court opposing challenge to Places of Worship Act; seeks impleadment

The applicant submitted that the organisation wished to put forth the views of the Muslim community, since the petition sought to indirectly target places of worship which were of Muslim character.

The Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind (applicant) has moved the Supreme Court seeking impleadment in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay challenging the Constitutional validity of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.
