The Union Home Ministry has suspended internet services in Singhu, Ghazipur, Tikri and their adjoining areas in Delhi from 11 pm on January 29, 2021 to 11 pm on January 31 on account of farmers protests..The order was passed by Deputy Secretary, MHA, Shailendra Vikram Singh in exercise of the powers under Rule 2(1) of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017.The order states that "in the interest of maintaining public safety and averting public emergency, it is necessary and expedient to order the temporary suspension of internet services in the areas of Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikriand their adjoining areas in NCT of Delhi.".[Read MHA Order]
