A Division Bench of the Delhi High Court comprising Justices S Muralidhar and Talwant Singh will hear at 12.30 pm today a petition by activist Harsh Mander in connection with the ongoing violence in North East Delhi.Harsh Mander's petition was listed for hearing before the Chief Justice's Bench. .Since the Chief Justice's Bench as well as the Bench of the second senior most Judge of the High Court, Justice GS Sistani, will not assemble today, Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves mentioned the matter before the third senior most Judge, Justice Muralidhar, for urgent hearing.."Make sure a senior level Police Officer is here", Justice Muralidhar told counsel for Delhi Police, Advocate Amit Mahajan, as he agreed to hear the matter at 12.30 pm..This is so important that everything can wait, said Justice Muralidhar as he asked Advocate Mahajan what his instructions were..The Bench then issued notice to Delhi Police in the petition..The petition seeks FIR against BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Sahib Singh and others for hate speech..Mander has also prayed for constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of Officers from outside Delhi to look into the violence and a direction to enable a retired Judge to enquire into the communal attacks..The Petition filed through Advocates Fazal Abdali, Sneha Mukherjee and Nabila Hasan also seeks compensation for those killed injured, preservation of CCTV footage, safety of women & children, legal aid to those detained, deployment of army in the area etc..Yesterday, the Supreme Court had agreed to hear applications by Bhim Army Chief, Chandra Shekhar Aazad and others for registration of FIRs based on complaints pertaining to the violence that began on February 23 in the city's North-East area.
