The Delhi Police on Friday informed the Delhi High Court that a 16-year-old-girl who had been missing since March, 2021 has been traced to Amritsar's Golden Temple yesterday. .Delhi Government's Additional Standing Counsel, Kamna Vohra told a Bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Asha Menon that the girl is being brought back to Delhi after the Investigating Officer (IO) tracked her down in Amritsar. The IO also sent photographs of the girl to Vohra from Amritsar where she was spotted with a boy. .The Court was hearing a Habeas Corpus petition filed by a family member of the girl. .The Court had on June 14 reprimanded the Delhi Police over the slow progress in investigating the case. The hearing that day saw the judges chide the police authorities for their laxity in handling the case. Justice Menon had observed that one of the accused had not even been interrogated properly. She went on to raise concern that this could be a case of possible child trafficking. The Court had, therefore, directed the police to immediately file a status report in the matter within three days time.Pursuant to the order, the Police had swung into action and traced the girl. Vohra also informed the Court on Friday that the girl will be present for the next hearing via video-conference."Learned Additional Standing Counsel for the Delhi Government informs this Court that girl has been recovered in Amritsar and will join via video conference on Monday. The Investigating Officer has also informed of this development via Whatsapp," the Court noted. It, therefore, proceeded to post the case for hearing next on June 21, 2021.
