Justices Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice V Kameswar Rao on Thursday bid farewell to the Delhi High Court, over eleven years after they were elevated as judges on the same day..The judges gave speeches at the farewell reference organised a day after their transfer orders were notified. Justice Sachdeva has been transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court while Justice Rao has been transferred to the Karnataka High Court."Nothing can match the Delhi High Court Bar. In the morning session, Justice V Kameshwar Rao had stated that all the 29 states/union territories are represented by our bar association and I have added that all the 29 states/union territories are represented by the judges of this court," Justice Sachdeva had said..In his farewell speech, Justice Sachdeva had highlighted how the seniors of the High Court's Bar are at the forefront of helping the younger lawyers who are the future. He had also emphasised upon the High Court being considered as one of the premier High Courts of the country."Delhi High Court is considered as the premier High Court in the country. I thank and congratulate the Bar. During COVID period, this Bar supported over 100 students by paying their fees. They also helped fellow advocates who were not keeping well during those times. Amongst my colleagues are eminent jurists," Justice Sachdeva said. The High Court has been at the forefront of digitisation, he said, adding that during lockdown, when every court was closed, the Delhi High Court was functional.Justice Sachdeva said that initially, he was very apprehensive of being elevated as a judge, but later on noted that each and every judge welcomed him graciously..Justice Rao began his farewell address by highlighting that how he never had any specific ambitions of becoming a judge. He emphasised that though his roots are in Chennai, he is a pure 'Dilli vaala'.With teary eyes, Justice Rao also remembered how his late mother always showed him the right way and said that her blessings continue to guide him."I remember my mother, who is no more in this world whose blessings continues to guide me in my existence as human being. I also remember my father-in-law who asked me to accept the offer of judgeship as God's grace and blessings. I always begin my day in court by offering prayers and touch Bhagvad Geeta.".When Justice Sachdeva pointed out that he and Justice Rao started as judges together and now they are getting transferred together, Justice Rao thanked Justice Sachdeva by calling him a 'computer judge' for bringing technological advancements to the High Court.Before ending his speech, Justice Rao said,"I shall also miss my 'chatora cycling' gang of my brother judges.
