The Delhi High Court has asked the Central government to furnish its memo vis-à-vis deportation of illegal migrants to Bangladesh (Ibrahim Ali v UOI)..The Court on July 13 directed the Centre to share the details of the Central office memorandum (OM) in sealed cover after the government submitted that the memorandums enumerating the procedure for repatriation were confidential in nature."Let a copy of the OM laying down the procedure for deportation of such migrants as the petitioner be filed before this Court, in a sealed cover, two days before the next date," the order said..The order was passed on a plea filed by three Bangladeshi nationals seeking to be repatriated back to their country. They alleged in their plea that they were abducted and brought to India. The petitioners also alleged that they were heavily sedated before being illegally abducted, and therefore do not have any travel documents with them such as passport, valid visa, etc..The State had filed a counter-affidavit before the Court detailing the procedure that has to be adopted by the Bangladeshi nationals for their repatriation to their country of origin. The counter-affidavit said that since India and Bangladesh had permeable borders, India often faces an influx of Bangladeshi nationals into India by illegal means. It was further stated by the Delhi government that the Delhi police detects and identifies such illegal migrants in India and that they can only be deported back to Bangladesh after verifying their nationality..The matter will be heard again on August 8 when the petitioners are expected to respond to the government argument. The petitioners were represented by advocate Kamlesh Kumar Mishra..[Read Order]
