The Delhi High Court on Friday launched the 'Digital Courts for Contested Traffic Challans', and the 'Bail Orders Sharing Module on e-Prison platform' projects..The projects were launched virtually by the head of the High Court's Information Technology Committee, Justice Rajiv Shakdher. Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud inaugurated the projects and spoke on the occasion.The digital court project includes two such courts for contested traffic challans in the East and North-East Districts, at Karkardooma Courts. The These Digital Traffic Courts will enable violators to appear through video conferencing and if convicted to pay the fines online. One such digital traffic court has been proposed in each District Court of Delhi.The second is the launch of the bail order sharing module in the High Court's e-Prison platform. This was in compliance with directions in a suo motu case before the Supreme Court.The module will enable online sharing of digitally-signed bail orders to inmates/undertrials lodged in any prison in the country. The software will also generate a list of cases where the prisoner is not released despite grant of bail, to help Legal Service Authorities secure the rights of prisoners. .CJI Chandrachud in his address lauded the High Court for its initaitives. On the bail module, he said it was significant since it directly concerned liberties of citizens.He gave the example of several people from the marginalised sections having to move the Supreme Court for enforcement of bail orders.
