The Delhi High Court Monday denied interim bail to former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia. .The Court, however, allowed Sisodia to visit his wife between 10 am and 5 pm on a convenient day. "This Court finds itself very hard to persuade to grant bail to Manish Sisodia. However, we direct that he (Manish Sisodia) be taken to the residence or the hospital where Mrs Sisodia is. He be taken to the hospital/residence between 10 am and 5 pm," the Court ordered.During this period, the petitioner shall not interact with anyone else except his family members, the Court added. "The Delhi Police is direct to ensure that there is no media gathering where Sisodia goes to meet his wife. He shall not use the mobile phone or internet," the order said..The Court also directed that Sisodia's wife be granted the best possible medical treatment. "This court would direct that best treatment should be provided to Mrs Sisodia. This Court would suggest that Mrs Sisodia be examined by a medical board constituted by the AIIMS," the Court directed.Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma pronounced the order today after having reserved it on June 3, Saturday..Sisodia was first arrested by the CBI on February 26. He has since remain in jail. Besides CBI, the Enforcement Directorate has also booked him in a money laundering case in connection with the same scam. His regular bail plea in the CBI case was rejected by the High Court on May 30. In the ED case for bail, the Court reserved its verdict on June 2. Meanwhile, the AAP leader sought interim bail for six weeks citing the medical condition of his wife..Arguing against the grant of interim bail, ED's Special Counsel Zoheb Hossain said that Sisodia's wife has been suffering from the degenerative disease for over two decades and the six-week bail will make no difference to her but only to Sisodia. He further submitted that Sisodia had filed another interim bail plea but it was withdrawn on May 24 and there are judgments which lay down that such withdrawal amounts to dismissal unless they are able to show some dramatic change..Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur, appeared for Sisodia and stated that a person's life cannot be so insignificant that her husband cannot meet her even when she is in such a condition."What kind of jurisprudence are we heading towards," he asked..The ED further said that the day Supreme Court delivered its verdict on the control of services in Delhi, there was unauthorised removal of documents related to the excise policy scam from the office of Special Secretary (Vigilance).Hossain said that a first information report (FIR) concerning the removal of documents has been filed and the incident is being probed."Documents [related to Excise policy case] are still being tampered with. An FIR has been registered," he submitted.Meanwhile, Mathur objected to these submissions and said that this was an argument of prejudice and chargesheet has already been filed in the matter.
