(DC Tuteja vs UOI & ors) .Notice to Central and Delhi Government was issued by a Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan in a petition preferred by Advocate DC Tuteja. .It is the Petitioner's concern that due to the lockdown and restriction imposed on account of COVID-19, the physical documentation and registration of the property, land and inter-personal documents such as power of attorney, Relinquishment deeds, adoption deeds, Will, lease Deeds, Sale Deeds, Agreement to sell, Mortgage deeds amongst others, has become a problem. .Stating that virtual has become the new normal in various aspects of life, the Petitioner has thus sought directions to the authorities to formulate policy for e-registration of these documents..In his petition filed through Advocates Gaurav Bahl and Aakanksha Kaul, the Petitioner has asserted that e-registration shall avoid the unnecessary rush at the Sub-Registrar's office, will bring ease of registration and also avoid red-tapism and any manner of corruption. .Physical presence of parties can always be done virtually by equipping the Sub-Registrar with the virtual portals, it is said. .Taking the virtual way would save time, money, energy and also control the spread of COVID-19, the Petitioner has claimed. .The matter would be heard next on July 23.
