No record to show that accused acted negligently or to spread COVID-19: Mumbai Court discharges 12 Tablighi Jamaat members [Read Order]

A Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bandra recently ordered the discharge of 12 Indonesian nationals who were members of the Tablighi Jamaat from cases registered against them on allegations that they had disobeyed Government orders and, thereby, contributed to the spread of COVID-19.

Judge Jaydeo Y Ghule found that the evidence on record did not prove the charges that were levelled against them by the Mumbai Police. Therefore, he has discharged the Tablighi Jamaat members from the case, directed the return of their passports and cancelled the bail bonds against them.
