CJI NV Ramana unhappy with corporates mentioning matters for priority hearing when criminal appeals pending

As on September 4, 2021, a total of 69,956 cases are pending before the top court. Out of that 51, 381 are admission matters while 18,575 are regular hearing matters.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana on Monday expressed his displeasure at big companies mentioning their commercial law cases for priority hearing when the Court is burdened with criminal appeals affecting the personal liberty of individuals.
