He was recently infected with viral pneumonia and died of cardiac arrest at 10.15 pm on Saturday.."I was hoping for his speedy and complete recovery and his return to the Bench at the earliest. The news of his passing has come as a rude shock. I have lost a valued colleague. He practiced for one year at Dharwad before shifting his practice to Bengaluru.He served as vice-chairperson of Karnataka State Bar Council from 1991 to 1993 and as chairperson of Karnataka State Bar Council during 1995 and 1996. He also served as State Public Prosecutor of Karnataka State from 1999 to 2002..He was appointed as additional judge of the Karnataka High Court on May 12, 2003 and was made permanent judge on September 24, 2004.On transfer, he was sworn-in as judge of High Court of Kerala. He assumed charge as acting Chief Justice of Kerala High Court on August 1, 2016. He was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on September 22, 2016.He was elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court of India on February 17, 2017.
