The Delhi High Court today deferred hearing in lawyer Aparna Bhat's contempt plea in connection with an order directing Chhapaak Filmmakers to give credit to her..On January 11, the Court had directed makers of film, Chhapaak to give credit to the acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal's lawyer, Aparna Bhat, during the screening of the film.As per the order, the filmmakers shall acknowledge the contribution to the film made by Advocate Aparna Bhat in the beginning of the film by adding the line,“Inputs by Ms. Aparna Bhat, the lawyer who represented Laxmi Agarwal are acknowledged.”.It is Bhat's griveance that the Filmmakers failed to comply with the order internationally.A Single Judge Bench of Justice Najmi Waziri adjourned the matter today after counsel for Fox Star Studio, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar stated that it was trying to "find a solution"."There was an understanding that it was only for India. In India, it is done", Nayar said as he sought an adjournment till Friday this week to work out an amicable solution..Nayar submitted that the Studio had not even preferred an appeal against the order as the "idea was to comply" with it.The Court raised its concern with respect to the "life of a product like this" and decided to put it for hearing on Wednesday..Appearing for Bhat, Senior Advocate Sanjay Parekh said that the order was supposed to be complied with by January 18 and the Filmmakers were in contempt of the Court's order each day since then. The Court observed,"I am sure something worthwhile can be found out.. If they have misconstrued the order, they have to look into it and make amends."No Notice has been issued in the contempt plea yet.Other respondents in the matter, including Director Meghna Gulzar is being represented by Senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan.
