Bombay High Court reserves verdict in plea by Seema Gavit, Renuka Shinde to commute death sentence to life imprisonment

Gavit and Shinde, who are half sisters, were sentenced to death for kidnapping thirteen children and murdering six of them. Their mercy petition had been rejected by former President Pranab Mukherjee in 2014.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict in the review mercy petition filed by half sisters Renuka Shinde and Seema Gavit who were convicted and sentenced to death for abducting and murdering children between 1990 to 1996 [Renuka Shinde & Anr. v. State of Maharashtra & Ors.]
