[Bhima Koregaon] Anand Teltumbde was active member of banned CPI (Maoist), furthered their agenda: NIA to Special Court

Anand Teltumbde, accused in the 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence, was an active member of banned political organisation, Communist Party of India (Maoist), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) told the special court, opposing his bail application (National Investigation Agency v. Anand Teltumbde). .The NIA in its affidavit said that it has evidence against Teltumbde to prove that he was deeply involved in the furtherance of the agenda of CPI (Maoist) and was also in touch with his brother, Milind Teltumbde another wanted accused in the case. Teltumbde also had secret meeting with Milind, the affidavit added. .The NIA relied upon two witnesses to claim that the Milind is involved in expansion of the naxal movement in urban areas with the help of his elder brother Teltumbde.It was claimed that he was taking guidance from his elder brother to advance the movement of CPI(Maoist)..Teltumbde was arrested in connection with the FIR registered with Vishrambag Police Station on January 8, 2018 for his role in the Bhima Koregaon violence.According to the complainant, Teltumbde was present at Pune when the Elgar Parishad event was arranged by the accused person through frontal organisation named Kabir Kala Manch..The complaint stated that Teltumbde’s acts and performances at the event were provocative in nature and had the effect of creating disharmony..Teltumbde’s claim that he had not visited the Elgar Parishad was also refuted by NIA by relying on mobile phone location of Teltumbde between 10 pm and 12.30 am during relevant the night. The same showed him to be near Shaniwar Wada where the programme was organised.Teltumbde was one of the conveners of Elgar Parishad as per the pamphlet printed in connection with the event, the NIA claimed..Teltumbde used to attend international conferences and used to bring back foreign Maoist literature in digital format and the same was further used for training purpose after approval from Central Committee of CPI (Maoist), the NIA alleged..The NIA also submitted that co-accused Dhawale had given the rebellious speech and also distributed objectionable books and pamphlets and other literature. .The FIR further contended that the accused persons are active members of the banned organization viz. CPI (Maoist) and they were responsible for incitement of violence.Kabir Kala Manch organisation spread such hatred through their songs, plays and speeches that it caused enmity between different communities, it was alleged.This led to violence, arson and stone pelting near Koregaon-Bhima causing losses of lives and public money.
