"Boycott no solution": BCI urges Opposition Leaders of Parliament to end deadlock over Manipur violence

The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Tuesday issued a statement urging political leaders and members of opposition parties in the country to end the ongoing deadlock in Parliament over issues relating to the violence in Manipur..The statement added that it is better, in the interest of the nation, to listen to the government and know its stand and reasons. Only the Central government, through Home Minister Amit Shah, can clarify the matter, the BCI's statement said.. "It is due to this reason that we are making this appeal to all the Hon'ble responsible leaders of opposition of our country to allow the Parliament to transact its business smoothly and find out the perfect solution to this serious problem," reads the BCI statement..The appeal made by BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra also emphasised that locking horns over this burning issue would not solve the problem."... due to this situation not only the large number of innocent people, particularly the meiteis (who are mostly Hindus) are suffering, but, now the other neighboring States are also adversely affected," the statement highlighted. .Boycotting is not a solution and it not only leads to the wastage of valuable time but also proves to be a futile exercise, BCI said. The matter requires an urgent discussion in the Parliament with the active participation of all members, it added.This is the opportune moment for both ruling and opposition leaders to set aside their political differences and come together to resolve the issue, the BCI remarked."Even for doing politics, the existence of a strong nation would be required, and all the political parties should keep this harsh truth in mind," the statement further read..A horrific video of two women being paraded naked and molested in Manipur, which went viral on social media last week, had recently led to public outcry over the failure to tackle the ongoing violence in the State.
