A Delhi Court this week sent four persons accused of vandalising the house of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi to14 days of judicial custody [State v. Sachin & Ors]..Another accused was sent to one day of police custody..Metropolitan Magistrate Amardeep Kaur on September 22 remanded all the persons arrested in the case.“In view of the facts and circumstances of the present case, I feel police custody of one day is sufficient…,” the Court said in relation to Lalit.For the others, it was stated,"The accused Sachin, Shivam, Vijay, and Vijay are sent to judicial custody for 14 days and be produced before the court on October 6, 2021.".The Court had noted that even slight damage to public property constituted an offence under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.The Delhi Police investigation officer had sought one-day police remand of accused Lalit, saying his custody was required for the purpose of recovery of the weapon of offence - an axe - besides unearthing the conspiracy.Additional Public Prosecutor Lalan Kumar appeared for the State and Advocate Shashi Ranjan Kumar represented the accused persons..ANI reported that the nameplate and gate of the house of Owaisi on Ashoka Road in New Delhi were vandalised. The Delhi Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the case, after which five members of the Hindu Sena were arrested.Owaisi also tweeted saying, "My Delhi residence was vandalised today by radicalised goons. Their cowardice is well known & as usual they came in a mob, not alone. They also chose a time when I was not home. They were armed with axes and sticks, they pelted stones at my house, my nameplate was destroyed..."
