A Mumbai court on Saturday remanded Aachit Kumar, co-accused in the cruise ship drug case in which Shahrukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan is the main accused, to judicial custody.
Kumar was arrested by NCB after Khan and his friend and co-accused Arbaaz Merchant had mentioned Kumar's name in their statements recorded under Section 67 of the NDPS Act.
Kumar was under NCB custody till today.
NCB had recovered 2.6 grams of Ganja from Kumar and he was alleged to be part of the ganja trafficking network.
NCB stated that the investigation was at a preliminary stage and it was important to find out the nexus between the accused.
In view of thus, NCB sought judicial custody of Kumar till October 23, 2021 which the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate RM Nerlikar granted.
Khan was arrested by NCB on October 2, 2021 after a raid was conducted on a cruise ship enroute to Goa from Mumbai, on allegations of consumption of drugs and criminal conspiracy.
Judge Nerlikar had on Friday rejected the bail application filed by Aryan Khan and two others on the ground that the application was not maintainable before him.
In light of this order, advocate Ashwin Thool appearing for Kumar, did not press for Kumar’s bail application.
He, however, placed an affidavit on record which contained CCTV footage pictures, and reports by media channels to prove how Kumar had been illegally detained before he was formally arrested.
