The Allahabad High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the assault on a lawyer by Uttar Pradesh police at Etah. .The case registered in this regard has been listed for hearing tomorrow at 11 AM before a Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh. .Bar Council of India had written to the Chief Justice of India, Justice SA Bobde and the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Justice Govind Mathur, requesting them to take immediate steps against the police personnel who assaulted the lawyer. .The BCI in its letter had pointed out that a video of the incident had gone viral and the concerns were raised by the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council in this regard. However, they were not even considered by the Yogi Adityanath government in the State, it was claimed.
