A Bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Siddhartha Varma on Monday dismissed two petitions seeking to stop the airing of web-shows Paatal Lok and XXX- Season 2. .The writ against the telecast of web series "Paatal Lok" stated that it found the series to be offending to the principles of "Sanatan Dharm" and that it was also in violation of fundamental rights enshrined under Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India..The Court, however, opined that it would be more appropriate if the petitioner ventilate his cause before the competent authority of the Government of India. .On similar lines, a plea against the airing of the web-series "XXX-Season 2" was dismissed while giving liberty to the petitioner to approach the appropriate Government authority..The petitioner in the case was found not be in a position to assist the Court on the applicable law. Further the Court noted that the competent authority of the Government had not yet been approached over the issue. .Therefore, the plea was dismissed with the observation that, ."It is a settled principle of law that the person demanding writ in the nature of mandamus is first required to make a demand from the Authority competent. A deviation from such settled principle can be made only in extraordinary circumstances and no such circumstance has been pointed out by the petitioner in this petition for writ."Allahabad High Court.Read the orders here:
