The Aam Aadmi Party government on Monday approved the creation of 42 additional posts in Delhi Higher Judicial Services (DHJS) and 22 commercial courts in the national capital..The cabinet noted that as per the data analysis carried out by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Govt. of India, it was found that as against the world's best practice towards timeline for disposal of commercial disputes of 164 days, Delhi was taking 747 days in deciding a commercial dispute, while Mumbai took only 182 days..In relation to the decision, Kailash Gahlot, Law Minister for the NCT of Delhi said, ."Delhi Government, under our Hon’ble CM has been consistently focusing on improving 'Ease of Doing Business'. Today’s decision is not just another step towards meeting targets, but also one that has been taken after referring to global best practices on fast & efficient redressal of Commercial disputes. Delhi courts have been over-burdened recently, and I’m confident with this decision to augment our Commercial Courts- both in manpower and resources, we will be able to dispose of all the pendencies and ensure speedy redressal of future cases."
