LGBTQIA+ couples can open joint bank accounts; name partner as nominee: Central government
An advisory in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Finance on August 28 stating that the clarification was in line with the Supreme Court's Constitution Bench judgment in the same-sex marriage case.
The Central government has clarified that there are no restrictions for persons of the LGBTQIA+ community to open joint bank accounts or nominate their queer partner as a nominee for an account.
