Lawyers beat bankers in Duane Morris & Selvam charity cricket match

A team of lawyers defeated a team of bankers in the sixth edition of the Capital Markets Cup hosted by Duane Morris & Selvam LLP. With this win, the lawyers have a 4-2 lead in the annual charity cricket match. .The lawyers’ team comprised representatives from Duane Morris & Selvam, Khaitan & Co, AZB & Partners, J. Sagar Associates, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Trilegal, Desai & Diwanji and Crawford Bailey..The charity match raised more than 2 lakh rupees for Bal Asha Trust, which works towards giving quality care to children who are found abandoned at various public places around Mumbai every year. Khaitan & Co donated Rs. 75,000, while Duane Morris & Selvam donated Rs. 68,000..Jamie Benson, Partner at Duane Morris was quoted as saying,.“Although I am happy the lawyers won the match, the main thing was bringing lawyers and bankers together for a fun time to raise money for a very good cause. I am already looking forward to next year’s match.”.Batting first, the lawyers made 213 for the loss of 8 wickets in 30 overs. Trilegal’s Sohrab Khushrushahi and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas’ Vijay Parthasarthi scored half centuries, while CAM’s Nikhil Naredi was awarded Man of the Match..Desai & Diwanji’s Sanjay Israni picked up 3 wickets for 25 runs, while Jamie Benson pitched in with 2 wickets for 22.
