Former Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR Hyderabad and National Law University, Delhi, Prof Ranbir Singh has joined IILM Law School in Gurugram, Haryana as pro-Chancellor. .Prof Singh has over four decades of experience as an administrator and academician. After completing his Ph.D. degree, he continued at Kurukshetra University as a faculty member till 1978. He then moved to Maharshi Dayanand University at Rohtak and continued there till 1996 in various capacities as Professor, Head, Dean and Proctor. He served as Professor of Law at National Law School of India University, Bangalore between1996-97.In 1998, he was instrumental in setting up NALSAR Hyderabad as its founding Vice-Chancellor. He continued there for ten years, before being appointed as founding Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi in 2008. Prof Singh's twelve-year stint at NLU Delhi came to an end in September 2020, when he was replaced by Prof Srikrishna Deva Rao.Prof Singh has served as a member of the Legal Education Committee of the Bar Council of India. Under his Chairmanship, a Committee with the assistance of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), prepared a draft bill for the abolition of child labour. He served as a member of the DNA Profiling Advisory Committee constituted by the Department of Bio-technology, Government of India to recommend a draft legislation. He was also a member of the Soli Sorabjee Committee appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, to draft the New Police Act.He also served as a member of the National Committee to administer the Rajiv Gandhi Advocates Training Scheme launched by the Ministry of Law and Justice in 2011. He was a member (part-time) of the 19th Law Commission of India..IILM Law School began its first academic session in 2019 and is presently working under the leadership of Chancellor Dr SY Qureshi (former Chief Election Commissioner), Vice Chancellor Dr Sujata Shahi and Dean Dr Asha Verma.
