National Law University, Delhi has appointed Dr Aniruddha Rajput as Distinguished Professor and Sumant Batra as Visiting Professor, with effect from 27 September, 2023..Dr Rajput is a graduate of ILS Law College, Pune and has an LLM from London School of Economics in 2006. He also earned his PhD in international law from National University Singapore in 2015. Dr Rajput is a Barrister and practices as a Consultant with Withers LLP in London. He was a member of the United Nations International Law Commission (2017-22), where he served as the Chairperson of the Drafting Committee of the International Law Commission at its 69th session in 2017. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law in 2019 and a Practitioner-in-residence at Humboldt University, Berlin in 2017.He is currently a member of the panel of experts constituted by the UNIDROIT to draft principles of international investment contracts..Batra is an insolvency lawyer of global eminence with three decades of experience in the areas of insolvency, bankruptcy and related laws. His work ranges from policy making, legislative drafting to designing best practices and advising & representing clients. His policy experience comes from being on multiple expert committees and working groups constituted by the Govt. of India and has been associated in multiple capacities with the IMF, the World Bank Group, OECD, the ADB and other developmental institutions.His book, Corporate Insolvency Law & Practice is considered, the foremost scholarly work on fundamental principles and approaches to the insolvency system.
