In a historic move, the Kerala government has announced reservations for transgender persons in nursing courses in the State..State Health Minister Veena George on Wednesday said that one seat each has been reserved for transgender candidates in BSC Nursing and General Nursing courses..The announcement posted on George's Facebook page stated that this is the first time in history that reservation has been granted to transgender persons in the nursing sector. .The health minister added that the move was only the latest in a series of steps taken by the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government to uplift the transgender community."This government has taken many steps to uplift the transgender community. It is in continuation of that reservation has been extended to the health sector as well", the announcement stated.
