Judges and staff under the jurisdiction of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir have donated an amount exceeding Rs 60 lakhs towards the cause of Kerala flood relief.
Chief Justice Gita Mittal chaired a full court meeting last month to pass a resolution to this end. Accordingly, a total amount of Rs 62, 27, 926 has been donated by the Judges, Judicial Officers and other staff members of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and subordinate courts in the state.
As intimated by a press release issued by High Court authorities,
“The contribution has been sent to the Distress Relief Fund of Chief Minister of Kerala to help the affected people to tied over the natural calamity of floods that has befallen upon them, so that they are able to rebuild their lives. The initiative to make donations to help the flood-affected people was taken by Hon’ble Ms. Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and it evoked an instant positive response from the Judiciary of the State.”
