Former Supreme Court judge Justice Shiva Kirti Singh has been appointed as the Chairman of the Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT)..His appointment as TDSAT Chairman has been cleared by the Centre and the notification regarding the same is expected to be out in the next few days..Prior to Justice Singh, Justice Aftab Alam was the Chairman of TDSAT..As per the Finance Act, 2017, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority Appellate Tribunal and the Cyber Appellate Tribunal have been merged with TDSAT. In effect, Justice Singh would be handling matters relating to airports regulatory authority and cyber crimes, along with telecom disputes..Justice Singh was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on September 19, 2013. After a tenure that lasted a little over three years, Justice Singh retired in November last year..He enrolled as an advocate in 1977 and was designated a Senior Advocate thirteen years later. In 1998, he was appointed as a judge of the Patna High Court, where he served as Acting Chief Justice for four months.
