He was appointed additional judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2002 and made a permanent judge in 2004. In 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court. .He was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court on November 2, 2018..At the farewell function organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Justice Reddy highlighted the need to update procedural laws to meet the needs of changing times, especially to reduce pendency in the courts.."Time consuming procedures civil or criminal, prescribed in the 19th century for the trial of cases in the pre-industrialised society need to be modernised to suit the needs of modern society....Unless we come up with comprehensive planning and giving timelines for disposal of cases, the present system may not work for the present and future needs. This is high time for all stakeholders in the system to think seriously to bring drastic reforms keeping in mind the present day needs of the society," he stated..He also appreciate Attorney General KK Venugopal's suggestion to establish Courts of Appeals in four metros to hear appeals from High Courts in order to reduce the backlog in Supreme Court of India..He delivered a special message to young lawyers asking them not to let money be their guide but develop character that honours the trust a client has reposed in them..Besides AG Venugopal, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, SCBA President Vikas Singh and SCBA Vice President Pradeep Kumar Rai were also present for the function.
