The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that Justice Prashant Kumar be re-transferred from Allahabad High Court to Jharkhand High Court.
The Collegium resolution states that Justice Kumar had made a representation in February 2019 seeking a re-transfer to his parent High Court, Jharkhand HC.
The said representation was forwarded by the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court to the Supreme Court Collegium.
“Mr. Justice Prashant Kumar, Judge, Allahabad High Court vide representation dated 21st February, 2019, forwarded by the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, for reasons mentioned therein, has requested for re-transfer to Jharkhand High Court.”
The Collegium acceded to his request and resolved that he be transferred to Jharkhand High Court in the better administration of justice.
“Acceding to his request, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Mr. Justice Prashant Kumar, be retransferred, in the interest of better administration of justice, to the Jharkhand High Court.”
Justice Kumar was born in 1958. He enrolled as an Advocate on October 1, 1980 with Bihar State Bar Council and practiced in Patna High Court, Patna and its Bench at Ranchi from 1980 to 1991. He was appointed Additional District Judge on May 6, 1991 and was promoted as District Judge in June, 2001. He was elevated as Additional Judge of Jharkhand High Court on January 21, 2009. He was then transferred to Allahabad High Court where he took charge on May 19, 2016.
