On Justice L Nageswara Rao's last day in office, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana remarked that the judge will be heading the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC), Hyderabad after demitting office. .The statement was made at the ceremonial bench that Justice Rao was sharing with the Chief Justice and Justice Hima Kohli. The CJI was reminiscing over their similar journeys, stating that their practice began from the same place. CJI Ramana shared that he was emotional as he would also demit office soon. However, noted that Justice Rao would keep interacting with them since he would be heading the IAMC."Justice Rao will be heading the Hyderabad International Arbitration Centre so he will keep interacting with us", said the Chief Justice of India..Justice Nageswara Rao is a part of the centre's board of trustees which also comprises the Supreme Court's Justice Kohli, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Former Supreme Court judge, Justice RV Raveendran..The IAMC was launched at Hyderabad with a view to facilitating time and cost effective dispute resolution methods for domestic as well as foreign investors having investments in Telangana and elsewhere in India.It has been set up in 16000 sq. ft. area and is conveniently located in the financial district of Hyderabad.The Centre, which aims to achieve the goal of ease of doing business by ensuring effective and speedy dispute redressal mechanisms, is equipped to provide cutting-edge, technologically advanced arbitration and mediation services.IAMC's operations are managed by a secretariat and guided by an autonomous governing council consisting of experts in the field of arbitration and mediation from India and abroad. .[Read our live coverage below]
