The Central Government on Wednesday notified the appointment of Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew as acting Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court..Justice Thangkhiew will take over as Acting Chief Justice pursuant to the retirement of Chief Justice S Vaidyanathan on August 16..A notification to this effect was published on the website of Ministry of Law & Justice."In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to. appoint Shri Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew, Judge of the Meghalaya High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 17.08.2024 consequent upon retirement of Shri Justice S. Vaidyanathan, Chief Justice, Meghalaya High Court on 16.08.2024," the notification stated..On July 11, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the name of Justice Tashi Rabstan as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.Justice Rabstan is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh High Court.
