The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to the Delhi government on the bail plea of Preet Singh, accused of chanting anti-Muslim slogans at Jantar Mantar on August 8. (Preet Singh vs. State.).Singh had moved the High Court against an August 27 order of Additional Sessions Judge Anil Antil rejecting Singh's bail plea.Single-judge Justice Mukta Gupta, who heard the matter today, issued notice and posted the case for further consideration on September 15. "The issue before the Court in this case is the incriminatory slogans raised at Jantar Mantar. The accused seeks regular bail under Sections 188 (Disobedience to Public Servant's Order), 269-270 (Negligent Act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 271 (Disobedience to Quarantine Rule) of the Indian Penal Code along with Section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act and the Epidemic Act. We hereby issue notice."Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain who appeared on behalf of Preet Singh, submitted that the present case related to alleged incriminatory sloganeering at Delhi' famous protest site, Jantar Mantar. "My client did not raise any such incriminatory slogans."He also apprised the Court that the accused's health condition was deteriorating in the jail on the basis of which he sought an expeditious bail.
