Jammu & Kashmir High Court to hear maintainability of plea challenging inclusion of Pahari speaking people in ST quota

The plea states that the 'Pahari Ethnic Group', 'Paddari Tribe', 'Kohli' and 'Gadda Brahmin' communities were included in the list of Schedule Tribes (STs) without any reasonable justification.

The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will consider the maintainability of a petition which has challenged the Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Schedule Tribes Amendment Act, 2024, by which 10% reservation has been given to 'Pahari speaking people' and four other tribes (Mohd Anwar Choudhary v. Union of India and Ors.)
