Jammu & Kashmir High Court stays FIR registered in Punjab; says cause of action arose in J&K

The petitioners placed reliance on a judgment of the Supreme Court which held that the High Court must ascertain whether any part of the cause of action arose within its jurisdiction.

The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh recently stayed an investigation into a First Information Report (FIR) registered in Patiala noting that a major part of the cause of action arose within the territorial jurisdiction of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court [Anshul Garg v State of Punjab].
