India facing threats from neighbours; we must learn from Bangladesh crisis: BCI Chairman Manan Mishra

India is facing threats from neighbouring countries and we should learn and be circumspect about the incidents that recently transpired in Bangladesh which led to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina government, Bar Council of India (BCI) Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said on Friday..He said that the people of Bangladesh did not respect their freedom and people of all faiths are under threat there now.“Bagal me Bangladesh me dekhiye kya ho raha hai. Unko azadi mili thi lekin unhone kadra nahi kari. Aaj waha Hindu hi nahi par sab khatre me hain. Azadi ka mahatva unhone nahi samjha (Look at what is happening in Bangladesh. They got their freedom but didn’t respect it. Today, not only Hindus but everyone is under threat there. They did not understand the importance of freedom,” he said.Mishra said that lawyers' community should strive to educate laypersons about threats faced by India.Jo bhi videshi takate hain... Kuch dushan jo hamare padosi hai. Jinse hamare desh ko khatra hai andar aur bahar se use bas vakil samaj hi samajhega aur saare samaj ko samjhaega (There are foreign forces… Some of our enemies who are our neighbours. They pose a threat to our country both from outside and inside. Only the lawyer fraternity can understand these threats and explain those threats to the entire community),” he said..Mishra was speaking at the inauguration of a new Bar Council of Delhi Bhawan block.He has been fielded as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance’s Rajya Sabha candidate from Bihar.Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, who was also present at the event, said that the Central government is working on insurance issue for lawyers and he held discussions with Mishra on the Advocates Protection Act.Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Manmohan stressed that ethical compromises in the legal profession have become common and professional standards are not the same as they used to be.“The stream of justice is sacred. Therefore, we must guide the bar in a direction where the stream of justice remains unpolluted and pure. The future of the legal profession depends greatly on this principle,” he said.
