IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access) will be conducting its Annual Conference on December 7-8 at the Constitution Club, Delhi. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Law & Story Telling’ and will feature prominent speakers from the Bar, the Bench, law firms, civil society and academia.
On the first day of the upcoming two-day gala, Justice AK Sikri of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice Gita Mittal of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, and Justice Hari Shankar of the Delhi High Court will be present to hand out awards to IDIA scholars and diversity champions. Among others, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta will also be present. After the award ceremony, IDIA scholars will be performing at the event, following which dinner and refreshments will be served.
Justice DY Chandrachud of the Supreme Court will be delivering the Key Note address on December 8 on the theme ‘The Narrative of Justice’. Among other illustrious speakers, lyricist and script writer Javed Akhtar will also be speaking on ‘How to Tell a Tale’. The event will also feature a special panel address by Justice BN Srikrishna.
IDIA is a non-profit organisation which aims to empower underprivileged children by giving them access to quality legal education. Along with sensitisation and intensive training programs, IDIA also works to drive policy in the area of “inclusive” legal education and “diversity” within law schools and the legal profession.
