The Central government has cleared the appointment of an additional judge each for the High Courts of Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Karnataka. .The development was intimated today by Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Law and Justice , Arjun Ram Meghwal on social media. .As per the online announcement, the following names have been cleared for appointment as High Court judges:Advocate Ravindra Kumar Agrawal has been appointed as an additional judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, following an October 10 recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium. Notably, the Collegium had endorsed his elevation despite certain objections by the government and after noting that there was nothing reported against the lawyer's integrity. Judicial officer Vimal Kanaiyalal Vyas has been appointed as an additional judge of the Gujarat High Court following an October 10 recommendation by the Collegium. Advocate KV Aravind has been appointed as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court. The High Court Collegium had recommended Aravind's elevation in August last year, while the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his appointment in July this year. The Supreme Court Collegium had also taken note of advocate Aravind's experience in taxation law while making the recommendation. The Collegium opined that the Karnataka High Court requires domain expertise on such matters given the increase in tax cases before it.
