Have removed social media posts against BharatPe: Ashneer Grover to Delhi High Court

Ashneer Grover on Friday informed the Delhi High Court that he has removed all social media posts, interviews and statements which, according to BharatPe, were defamatory to the fintech firm..Justice Navin Chawla was told by Grover's counsel, Advocate Giriraj Subramanium, that he would abide by the High Court's previous order which directed Grover as well as BharatPe not to use unparliamentary language against each other..Subramanium further expressed his concern over one of the statements made by BharatPe, wherein they alleged that Grover and his family had committed a fraud. He requested that the statement be retracted.The counsel representing BharatPe responded by assuring that they would remove or edit the statement as requested..The Court was hearing an application submitted by BharatPe claiming that Grover had been posting defamatory tweets ever since the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) registered an FIR against him and his family members.BharatPe filed this application as part of its existing defamation lawsuit, which was initiated in response to Grover's previous tweets.During the proceedings, in January 2023, the Court had advised Grover's counsel to advise their client to maintain decorum..In the previous order, Justice Prateek Jalan had expressed his displeasure at the language used by Grover and some of the BharatPe officials targeting each other on the social media and in the press. “This is not a street fight between some rival gangs in the corner of the city. These are corporate people, educated people, articulate people who can surely adjudicate their grievances against each other in a more refined way,” the Court had remarked..The Delhi Police had on May 10, 2023 registered an FIR against Grover, his wife Madhuri Jain and other family members for alleged misappropriation of funds. BharatPe alleged that the total loss to them amounted to nearly ₹81 crores. Grovers and BharatPe have been involved in the legal tussle ever since the former were ousted from the company.
