The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday announced free-of-cost medical treatment for its judges, judicial officers and other employees, after signing agreements with four government hospitals.

A circular to this effect states that while the High Court Medical Facility, which provides advanced medical services to the Court staff, had already been set-up in November last year, the same lacked speciality and super-speciality services.

In view of this, the High Court, under the direction of its Medical Facility Committee (which comprises Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and other High Court judges) made arrangements with government hospitals to provide free-of-cost medical services.

  • M&J Western Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (M&JWRIO)

  • Government Dental College & Hospital (GDCH)

  • Government Spine Institute & Physiotherapy College (GSI&PC)

Further, two-year Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been executed with three grant-in-aid super speciality hospitals for cashless medical treatment. These are:

  • U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre (UNMICRC),

  • Gujarat Cancer & Research Center (GCRI)

  • Institute of Kidney Diseases & Research Centre – Institute of Transplantation Sciences (IKDRC – ITS)

The circular states that the bills for payment for cashless treatment at these three hospitals will be generated for reimbursement after the treatment is given to the patient.
