The fourth National Lok Adalat held on December 9 this year saw the resolution of over 1.17 crore cases involving a settlement amount of ₹20,510 crore..A total of 1,17,43,465 cases were resolved, including 11,98,278 pending cases and 1,05,45,187 pre-litigation cases, a press released issued by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) stated.The event was organised by legal services authorities across the country under the aegis of NALSA and led by its executive chairperson, Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul.Due to administrative reasons, the National Lok Adalats for Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Telangana will be held on December 10 (Sunday), December 16, and December 30 respectively. .In the fourth national Lok Adalat, cases involving compoundable offences, revenue cases, bank recovery cases, motor accident claims, cheque bounce cases, labour disputes and matrimonial disputes (barring divorce cases) were among the types of matters resolved.Further, a signifcant number of recovery matters related to financial institutions, banks, government bodies and private service providers were also taken up as pre-litigation disputes and settled.Justice Kaul highlighted that swift resolution of cases at Lok Adalats will alleviate the immense pressure on the court system, and allow judges to dedicate their time and resources to more complex and urgent issues..One crore cases settled at 3rd National Lok Adalat in one day
