Nischal Hindia, former Executive Director and Country Counsel at UBS India, has resigned from his role at UBS to join Diageo as Legal Director, India, according to sources..It is understood that Nischal will replace the current Legal Director, Mamta Sundara, who will continue elsewhere within the Diageo network. Mamta had joined Diageo in December 2010 prior to which she worked with British Telecom in Singapore..Nischal, a 2003 graduate of NLSIU, Bangalore, joined UBS in January 2011 and worked as Country Counsel for UBS India for over two years..He has previously worked at Wadia Ghandy & Co., Mumbai where he practiced general corporate, M&A and private equity. Following this, Nischal moved to Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London where he was part of their India practice group, following which he joined Allen & Overy LLP, London. He spent over four years at A&O in their capital markets and M & A practices before joining UBS..Recently, Diageo agreed to acquire a 53.4 per cent stake in United Spirits for Rs. 11,166.5 crore (approximately $2.05 billion), which was the biggest inbound investment in India in 2012..Each of Diageo and Nischal Hindia declined to comment when contacted by Bar & Bench.
