Former Law Minister Sadananda Gowda speaks out against fake lewd video, complaint registered

Former Union Law Minister and Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Monday took to Twitter to object to the circulation of a lewd video that allegedly features him.

A police complaint has been registered on behalf of Gowda by one Thamme Gowda. It states that the morphed video is politically motivated and aims to attack the former CM personally.

"I have reliably learnt that that a politically motivated fake, fabricated concocted video has been made by making use of our M.P. Sri. D V Sadananda Gowda. The same is being circulated in the social media and face book. The said creation of the video is only to tarnish his image. The same is politically motivated. The said video came to be created by the way of impersonation. In that view of the matter, I request your goodself to take suitable action to block the circulation of the said video and also to take suitable action against the wrong doers, strictly in accordance with law and protect his image."

This apart, Gowda also tweeted that the alleged lewd video was circulated in order to cause a black mark on his "stellar political career."

"A morphed (deep fake) video of mine has been making rounds on social media. I would like to inform that, it is not me in the video, its created to malign my impeccable image by my adversaries with vested interest."

He further indicated that since he had obtained an injunction order from a Bengaluru court earlier this year, anyone forwarding/uploading the content of the said video would be punished as per the relevant sections of the law

In July, a Bangalore court had restrained media outlets from publishing or circulating "false, baseless and reckless news items" against Gowda.
