Former Advocate General of Kerala CP Sudhakara Prasad passes away

Senior Advocate and Former Advocate General of Kerala, CP Sudhakara Prasad, has passed away aged 81, Mathrubhumi reported.

Prasad served as the Advocate General of the State for a total of ten years in two different terms. His first stint was from the year 2006 to 2011, when VS Achuthananthan was the Chief Minister of Kerala. The second tenure was from 2016 to 2021 during the first Pinarayi Vijayan government.

He was also the Chairman of the Kerala State Bar Council from 2016 to 2019.

He had resigned from the post of Advocate General in May 2021.

Prasad was known to be an expert in service law, and had experience in criminal, constitutional and civil law cases.

He had also given legal advice to the VS Achuthananthan government that permission must not be given to prosecute Pinarayi Vijayan in the famous SNC-Lavalin case.

However, the Governor had rejected the decision taken by the government.
