FIRs registered against alleged hate speeches by MLAs Geeta Jain, Nitesh Rane: State to Bombay High Court

The Court earlier had earlier asked the Commissioners of Police (CPs) of Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander and Vasai-Virar (MBVV) to take a decision as to whether FIRs for hate speech are to be lodged against the leaders.

The Maharashtra Police on Tuesday told the Bombay High Court that the speeches given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Nitesh Rana and Geeta Jain during the Mira Road violence in January 2024 were offensive and thus, criminal cases have been registered against them.
