ED can summon any person; those summoned expected to respect and respond: Supreme Court

The Court made the observation while lifting a stay imposed by the Madras High Court on the execution of ED summons issued to five district collectors in Tamil Nadu.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that prima facie, a person summoned under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is required to respect and respond to the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) during a money laundering probe.
