Duty of police to produce jailed accused for trial, cannot shift blame for non-appearance to accused: Supreme Court

In this case, the Uttar Pradesh Police had opposed the grant of bail to a government employee on the ground that he had not appeared for trial. The top court, however, noticed that the accused was in jail at the time.
