Dr Chandra Krishnamurthy leaves NLU-Orissa Current VCs to be changed at NLU-J NUALS NLIU and RMLNLU

Dr. Chandra Krishnamurthy, current Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Orissa will be leaving the University and taking charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Pondicherry University. Dr. Krishnamurthy was appointed in April 2012 after the founding Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Faizan Mustafa left the University to head NALSAR, Hyderabad..A new Vice-Chancellor will be appointed soon at the National Law University-Jodhpur as the current Vice-Chancellor, Justice N N Mathur’s term got over recently. Justice Mathur speaking to Bar & Bench said, “The search committee is on the look for a suitable person. The appointment will take a month a more. I am continuing only as a care taker Vice Chancellor.”.Dr. N. K. Jayakumar Vice-Chancellor, National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi (NUALS) also completed his tenure recently. Speaking to Bar & Bench, Dr. Jayakumar said, “I had a challenging time at NUALS. NUALS never had a campus when I joined and when I leave, the campus construction is almost over. I leave the institution with a sense of satisfaction. I have done the maximum I could do for the institution.”.Earlier a petition was submitted to Justice Manjula Chellur, Chancellor of the NUALS and Chief Justice of Kerala High Court regarding the alleged horse-trading and political indulgences taking place for post of Vice-Chancellor at NUALS by students, parents and alumni..Dr. Balraj Chauhan, Vice-Chancellor, Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow also completed his tenure recently and the search committee is already on the search for a new Vice-Chancellor. Dr. Chauhan has returned back to Lucknow University as Professor of Law. Speaking to Bar & Bench, Dr. Chauhan said, “RMLNLU was a good experience. I hope the institution comes up in a big way.” RMLNLU Registrar, Anita Misra is the current Vice-Chancellor in-charge..Dr. S. S. Nigh, Director, National Law Institute University, Bhopal has tenure till June 23, 2013.
