Intellectual Property Law firm Fidus Law Chambers has hired Diva Arora Menon and her team with effect from November 1. She will join the firm as its third partner.

The hires will take the strength of the firm to 54 staff members, including 22 lawyers.

Fidus Law Chambers is the only IP firm in India having an all-woman partnership. The existing partners at the firm are Shwetasree Majumder and Tanya Varma. Its women fee earners outnumber the men by a 2:1 ratio.

Fidus was set up as a sole proprietorship firm in 2008 by Majumder, a prominent IP litigator, and strategist, who has been ranked as one of the top 100 lawyers in India by the India Business Law Journal.

The firm converted from a sole proprietorship to a partnership last year with the induction of Tanya Varma into its management. Varma, who has spent 5 years with Fidus, has been an IP practitioner for more than 12 years, having worked both as an IP litigator and as an in-house IP Counsel for British Petroleum (Castrol).

Menon, who is joining the firm now as its third partner, is a 2006 graduate of ILS Law College, Pune. She previously worked with Deloitte Haskins & Sells and Anand and Anand, before setting up her own firm – DA Law Chambers – in 2012.

Speaking to Bar & Bench on Menon’s hire, Fidus founder Shwetasree Majumder said,

“Diva is not only an excellent lawyer with multi-disciplinary experience, but is also someone who brings a great deal of positive energy with her. We are very excited to have her and her team join us and look forward to the next phase of our growth as a firm.”

Apart from the three partners, the firm’s management also includes its CEO, Vishal Vig.
