While the Government machinery, particularly of Haryana, was found wanting, in handling the violence that erupted due to Dera Sacha Sauda leader, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s conviction, the judiciary has come in for praise from various quarters..Both the CBI judge, who convicted the self-proclaimed Godman, and the Punjab & Haryana High Court, which has closely monitored the security situation by issuing one order after another, have received accolades..However, the episode had had some serious fallouts as well..Deputy Advocate General sacked for holding convict baba’s suitcase.The deputy Advocate General of Haryana Gurdass Singh Salwara was sacked by Haryana government after a clipping emerged in which he was seen holding the convict’s suitcase..According to NDTV, Salwara was in his court robes as he rushed to help Ram Rahim with a bright orange suitcase..The report also states that the Advocate General, Baldev Raj Mahajan had recommended Salwara’s removal after it came to light that he had connections with the Dera sect..The hearing on the sentencing of the convict will take place tomorrow..CBI Court shifted, Concerns over the security of the judge.The situation in Panchkula after the pronouncement of judgment was such that the Punjab & Haryana High Court decided to shift the place of sitting of the CBI court from Panchkula to Rohtak for hearing on the sentencing of the rapist..As per the notification issued by the High Court yesterday, the place of sitting of the court would be District Jail, Rohtak.
